update update!!!

My blog seems to be a monthly affair now... haha will try my best to not let that happen. Anyway, just recovered (or still recovering) from Mr. Nasty Flu Bug. Drained off everything I have trained... One advise to anyone.... Flu + Club till 6am + Tanning the next day.... not a good combi.. hahaha tested and proven. But hey privilege for being youthful yah =P.

Decided to give myself a little break to blog before going into work again. Share picture again =P Shall start with the more happening stuff first. Hmm... first up, the concert, yes I was back in the music scene once again, helping out my old school NYP with a concert at the Victoria Concert Hall. Always a pleasure to perform in that hall. Special thanks to all those that came to support me!!! and of course the rest of the band lah. Haha picture dedication to all those that turn up...

Ex band members (L to R) : Xiu Xiu, Ah Tom, May, Zhongxi and Bryan... OMG all woodwinds... =P

My buddy Dennes !!!

May and me

Jac and me, must take at every concert =P haha

Bunch of glamorous people that dressed for the occasion (L to R): Clarrisa, Esther, Mary, Dylan, Alex, Choon Kai

Head of their clan: Clarrisa and myself.

A couple of my colleagues from Track and Field, Matthew and Iskandar, than

Elisse, Fren from Kim Seng...

My fren Amelia, came despite not feeling well and all... really appreciate it.

Kelvin Chua from my SAF Band days...

Last but certainly not the least, Cindy...

Guess this should sum up my concert. Its a pretty good concert, thou a couple go glitch here and there (which is common) am glad I did my part and play ok during the concert. Its great seeing so much friends around, certainly brings back plenty of memories. HAHA looking forward to the next. if there is going to be one.... for now...its back to work!!!

Have a great week ahead everyone!!!

Cheers!!!

A little something before I turn in

Weather is pretty bad lately, super hot one moment and pouring dinosaurs the next moment. This causes many around me to start to fall since, and inevitably, Mr. Flu bug also came knocking on my door... so I am going to keep this sharing short and head to bed. This month and April zoomed past for me, what i dreaded at the beginning of the month, the uncertainties, the worries of hiccups and all, has finally come to an end, in this sigh of relief, there is a tinge of feeling that I will miss whatever that has happen the past month.

This month has been a pretty interesting one for me... many 12 - 16 hours work days, but yet neither the working hours nor the long traveling distance made me dread going to work. Yes I do have to admit as days gone by, the getting out of the bed part seem to be more and more challenging, however, it never once made me not look forward to they day ahead. I guess part of the reason would have to go with the wonderful people I get to work with these past month. Thanks to them, work is very enjoyable and also lighten. My most sincere gratitude to all that has been on this journey with me, thou its just been a month, I must say bonds have been built beyond my wildest dreams. Happy is the aim I plan to achieve, seeing smiles when people work, despite having to bear the hot sun, everyone working, not as worker, but as one big family, enduring together, supporting one another, this spirit is really heartwarming and I am glad to be leading this group of excellent people around me. As the chinese saying goes, there is no gather that last forever. I do sincerely hope everyone the best, and really do keep in contact in the many years ahead. More photos of my fun team!!!

There is more which I will capture on the final day 2 day from now... this is all for now!!! =P Good night and to all that is sick or fall sick, please take alot of water and Vit C. take care and speedy recovery!!!

Long Awaited entry

Haven't update for so long.... Not too sure where to start.... Hmm lets just recap some of my happenings for the month of late March till now. Attended a fren's wedding, or rather friend of both the bride and the groom, course mates from poly and together since their sec school days. Kinda like a mini gathering for everyone and honestly finally a meet up that is not a sad affair (some pple will know what I am talking about.

Picture with some of my buddies in schools and of course their partners. Serious glad to see old friends and they haven't change abit. Nice

Next... hmm... I suppose it will be my run... had to compensate for my lack of exercise these past few weeks (which I will get to shortly) so I did 2XU run. Overall one word comment: Inexperienced. organizers can improve on many aspect of the race. Overall set up I must say is not very soundly done. Major minus point: 1) Transportation, arrived 5 mins after flag off due to late bus. 2) Bad deployment of volunteers, saw many spots with hardly any manpower but so many green shirt volunteer at the end point doing NOTHING! 3) Water point, should not serve ice cold drink coz hard to swallow especially when u are already fighting to catch your breath. Not all is lost, the route was fine and rather challenging with the slopes and all. start and end point was good too... very nicely set up. Bag deposit was ok too, very prepared. Overall its a rather great run. Managed to clock 1:01:37.63 for a 12km run. =) Hoping to hit 1hr so there is still some room for improvement.

A picture from the run, thx to a kind soul that took for me after the race. Anyway kind warning to those that have intention to go to the beach. Beware of Jellyfish, I believe there is a change in climate, thus they are swarming near shore. Unfortunately, I got stung. Nothing serious but serious pain.

Now for my work, have been busy with National Track and Field these past few weeks and am done with the Secondary level one, now am going ahead with the Primary school level. There is a vast difference in terms of standard and management style. My boss tried to tell me and I tried to get mentally prepared for it but it still dun work. Felt like demoted from a 1st world country to a 3rd world country (*simply and analogy, no pun intended) Feeling the pressure from the EAs, Everyone please bear with it awhile and try to look at the enjoyable sides of things.

Through this event, I also managed to make many new friends and also meet many interesting people. Think from the picture you will get what I mean. so less talk more pics.... =P

Really fun bunch of people, make me miss poly days a whole lot.... haha 2 more week guys... Jia you!!!

Crunch Time

Just realized I haven't been blogging. Work is really piling up (as usual) but definitely beats doing nothing. Kind of excited for the month to come. Foresee April to be a rather short month. Lots of "outings".

Okie enough about work, now about life. Just did my first ever Singapore Biathlon. Experience, awesome but not loving the swimming leg. First time swam such a distance in open water, the feeling is very different from doing it in pool, partly coz you do not get to kick off the wall at every 50m.=P but the swim was not as bad as I imagined. Not used to having so many people swimming around me. Got punch, elbowed and kicked umpteen times, breast-strokers should seriously take outer lanes. I was literally escorted by 4 breast strokers man. Nothing wrong with that stroke just that they require a huge surface area and have very powerful kicks.... hahaha Nevertheless managed to exit the water with minimal damage. Let my nerve get the better of me thus wasted quite abit of time at the transition area as I look for my stuff and suit up. Start of the run was slow, needed time to catch my breath as it picked up then it was not too bad. Overall a great experience. Here is my timing.

Swim : 00:32:09
Run: 00:53:4
Overall: 01:25:53

Pretty contented for a first timer. My personal target i aim to achieve was 1 hrs 45 mins. This event was more special as I did it with a bunch of new friends all passionate sports person. Its different doing the sports alone (which I normally do) and with friends.

All the survivors! Great job everyone.

This weekend will be yet another fun filled weekend, very packed thou. So will blog about it when i get the chance to...

Bye for now... back to work...

BUSY BUSY BUSY!!!

Its been a very busy first week for March, and as deadline gets shorter its going to get even busier than ever!!! argh *pull hair* okok breathe breathe... better busy than nothing to do I must say. The weekend wasn't exactly awesome but was Ok as team LARD completed our first cycling event!!!

For those that wonder why LARD, its in the order of our name as in the photo, (L)isa, (A)ngie, (R)yan and (D)ebby!!! hahaha. Was suppose to bundle our tees and show off our midriff with that inital on it, but we figure it will cause alot of accidents along the way so we didn't in the end =P the fun ride was ok but what was really enjoyable is the array of bikes there was at site.. Like running events, you never know there was so many enthu pple until u join an event. Overall the ride was Awesome!!! making me super duper tempted to get myself a road bike, any kind sponsors???

Just realized I over packed my year with activities and is seriously facing a problem financing all of them. Just to name a few (that cost more)

1) Get a road bike (range between 500 to 1K)
2) Running in Aussieland (range between 500 to 700)
3) Learn Scuba Diving (range between 500 to 700)
4) Korea (range between 500 to 1.5K)
5) Half ironman in desaru with gang (300 to 500)

Mind you these are still excluding the many other races I have yet apply. HAHHAA OMG OMG OMG looking at it, I might just have to forgo a couple to spread the finance. HAHA.... DIE DIE DIE

Recently, a photo of my past have resurface on to earth (when I seriously tot I have everything covered and destroyed. But it seems not so, anyway made a comparison with then and now and this is what you get.

The photo on the left was when i was serving my internship during my poly days. which mean it was about 2003/4 ish. and the other one was taken pretty much recently. So a difference in 6/7 years? A long time I suppose, some memories are sweet while some are best left well kept I suppose. Haha, but looking at myself then and now, I cannot help but pat myself in the back for the achievement thus far, and definitely more motivated to bring it to the next level!!!

Monday Monday!!! long long week to go!!! Enjoy the week ahead everyone. A special shoutout to Apel and Trena as they embark on their new direction in life....HAVE AN AWESOME TIME!~!~!

8 days into the Tiger year

I must say... when chinese eat, they are scary!!! the amount of food I consume in the past 8 days is scary!!! and I am seeing the effects of the good food as my "good friend" named TUMMY is already waving back at me... Yesterday is the last official day of mass indulgence, this week will be detox before I go into working out back to my normal regime already. First 16 weeks will commence from March. next will be July till October. Wish me luck.... and don't worry, I will not be flooding this blog with exercise stuff. Will however be starting an event on FB, will be a private even so for those who are interested, please let me know and I will add you guys (or girls). Will be sharing my work out and other tips and all from others lah. Do keep a lookout. BY INVITES ONLY!~!

Yesterday was pretty fun, and a steamy day... haha filled with steamboat that is. hahaha had steamboat at 2 location, lunch at my aunt, dinner at Trena's place. Think I am growing a phobia for steamboat already, hopefully dun have to have one more anytime soon (thou i foresee one coming up OMG OMG OMG) Anyway, the weekend was pretty alright but really really alot of makan. Friday had potluck at Kate's place once again, the final one before Herbert and Kate bids farewell as Bert flies back to NZ and Kate is off to Korea for an exchange for 4 months. Pictures are with Bert and Dennes so will have to wait for it.

Hmm... nothing much to state liao. Will just share some pic from yesterday night from Apel's cam.

Happy Lunar New Year!!!

GONG HEI FATT CHOY Everyone!!! hope everyone is having a roaring start to the new year!!! may everyone have good health and a fantastic year ahead! The months leading to today has been a good on, so far 2010 has been pretty kind to me. Thank you friends, family and everyone that has left a mark in my life in the year of the Ox. I must say last year has been pretty rough, but having that behind me, I am definitely looking forward to having a fantastic Tiger year ahead.

Let just slowly recap on what happened from the "english" new year, till this "lunar" new year. Several fun events took place, some are life's turning point, while others are just reason for gathering, but nevertheless, all left a footprint in my memories.

There is Ross and Bell's Full month celebration, the first ever doggie full month I attended in my life.

A picture of the happy family!!!

Then of course there is the first marriage that was informed to us since we event graduated.

Congraz to you Serene and Thomas.. as you guys embark on life's journey, I sincerely wish you guys all the best, stay happy, blissful and loving always.

After that of course the next day was my first race of the year! The Men's Health Urbanathlon, Maybe I pinned the standard too high to the one one NYC, thats why for anticipating a tough race, which turn out much easier than I tot. Took me about 5 mins to recover from that 12.5km with obstacle run. Was still able to walk all the way to Wayne's apartment for a shower, grab breakfast before heading home. But overall, fun!!!

Run pass the finishing line!!!

This is then followed by my ICT.... and of course my IPPT... now I holding this status!!!

Heez... a great achievement at the start of the year. Pretty much something I expect to get by this year (one of my new year resolution) but wasn't expecting it so soon or early this year. Now will be to maintain it and pehaps improve in the points. Am currently a 24 pointer (full is 25) so will have to work for a perfect score, and heard from my friend Wei Ling the elite forces time for 2.4km run is 9.14min, so something else to work for. TRAINING HARD!~!~

Then there is the Airshow 2010, something my buddy Herbert (who is a plane fanatic) jio-ed so tot why not... Nothing fantastic to be honest, I think the opening for public was purely a gimmick for the organizer to earn something out of it, coz by the time we are there... there are more empty booths then exhibits left. Overall was good and did get myself a tank top tan as the sun was scorching!!!

And of course there is the 2010 Asian Pot Luck Summit at Kate's place where great chef exchange pointer and fantastic dishes.

The latest will be a last min shopping out with Apel, attempting to get a little CNY shopping done, ended up she bought all she need than me... HAHA never the less good good company and outing lah...

She asked me what will my new year resolution be. These year, as the start of the next decade, I have quite a number of resolutions, some are general while some are pretty much personal wellness. For the general,

1) Wish that everyone stays healthy, fit, happy, especially my parents
2) Have a health work/sport/leisure time (so that I can have more friends time without losing sports commitment time)
3) Embark and excel in a career.

On a personal note, I really wish to attain quite abit physically.

1) Obtained my dream figure by Halloween
2) Attain IPPT Gold (which I already did)
3) To join an overseas run

This year is a year where I will test my limits again, or rather, try to find the limits or breaking point. Don't worry, I will of course do it safety. Many might think I am insane, but honestly, you have to try it before calling me that, coz the feeling of each time you feel you have already reach your limit and you survive, you will feel that it wasn't so bad, and the next time you do the same thing, you realised you have surpassed it and attain another new limit. As the saying goes, What doesn't kills you makes you stronger.

So aim is to get stronger as I am sure I will never reach my strongest!!!

That my first entry for this new year!!! may everyone have a great year ahead and give a 120% in everything you do, I am sure you will do well as long as you try!!!

ROAR!~!~!~

BOOK OUT BOOK OUT!~!~!~

After one entire week, I must say this much needed rest is really required. Sometimes a little get away is a good way to get you back on track... However, this came with a price as I AM GETTING FATTER!~!~!~ OMG.... But not all is lost... coz I am officially a GOLD standard for IPPT... by sheer chance of my age! hahah here is my result. Majority of my stations have improvement to my amazement, but really have to work on my SBJ (DAMN i can't jump)

Sit Up - 43 49
SBJ - 230 230
Chin Up - 12 12
S. Run - 10.0s 9.7s
2.4km - 9.46mins 9.34mins

Award Silver Gold

Woohoo i cleared my this year window, thou a little earlier than I wished for it. Initially I wasn't keen on taking it during this reservist feeling I wasn't ready (and the fact that I have just done the urbanathlon the weekend before) but as I head back to rest, I tot to myself, if I didn't take then, I have to plan a separate date just to burn my morning to go take it. So I just decided to give it a go and I only have one tot in mind, to get GOLD (which i eventually did) *pat my own back* hahaha

Okok enough about that... anyway the rest of the training is very enjoyable yet fattening coz been eating quite abit. really need to plan my diet well to get it into control again. expecting another session this end of the year. Hopefully by then I can see a significant change to myself, seriously!!! made a pact with some of the guys... hopefully can work something out... OMG...

It an exciting weekend ahead... cannot wait... but shortly... will have to go shower and head out liao... hehe... shall feedback more soon lah... for now...GOLD woohoo!!!

An achieve in life that I never dreamt of in the past... One new year resolution fulfilled!!!

yet another happening weekend.

It seems that my weekends just gets better and better. I will not exactly say this weekend started off well. Had a super rush event. To my personal feeling, I didn't think it was really smooth but since my boss asked me to take it as a "learning experience" I just take it. All I can say is Venue Vendor got to start hiring responsible staff. SERIOUSLY... Nothing much left to say about that place or event for that matter. Moving on to the evening, Its been the day we all have been waiting for... our beloved Serene Wang get married... Its was a fantastic dinner, honestly speaking, the first ever wedding I had to attend for a fren (used to be with parent for their friend's kids wedding kinda situation). Everything was good and everyone was so well dressed. Too bad not everyone could make it if not it will definitely be more fun.

Some photos to share.

(L to R): Mariyanto, David, Ah Su, Meilian, Yi Shen, Hu Yan, Ann, Joyce, ME!!!

Gorgeous ladies for the evening

Handsome Hunks (except me of course) for the evening

And of course, the newly Weds Mr. and Mrs. Loh =P Congraz guys...

that is definitely not all... I did plenty more cam-whore with my beloved Bo Bo united lah... these girls never fail to brighten up the atmosphere in the class. Love them to bits...

Unfortunately, i couldn't join in the after wedding party as I have a run (which I will touch on shortly) but overall, its really great to have meet up again, and really hope the next meet up is not so long again!!!

Now to my run, first ever medal for 2010, The Mens Health Urbanathlon 2010, First ever all male event in Singapore. Honest Honest opinion, I seriously didn't felt much kick out of it... coz there wasn't pain after the run, like how the other runs would give me. I am not a sucker for pain (okok maybe a little bit) but its more like the aches I was looking for. I got none.... just felt tired, probably from not getting my 8 hours of rest for the past few days. but other than that I am fine. haha... Some changes have been made to some of the station. I was expecting the stairs climbing to be a challenge, but not really, it was pretty much step I do for beefcake (land training for dragonboat in Aussie term) so did wind me out for awhile, but was really awhile. Managed to catch my breath at the monkey bar station as a queue has been formed. That would be the "toughest" leg of the race i suppose (though i cleared at one go lah) coz the rest really didn't feel that "tormenting" as I would have expected. Kinda disappointed to be really honest as I look at their website and they show the one they had on Chicago, that's kick ass... But nevertheless I survives and killed it... HAHA I guess it would be more of a challenge if i really did set out to win something I suppose (instead of the mindset of just complete it). Overall, fun and scenic run with breaks (from the obstacles) in between.

Some photos...

My officially retired Asic runner, this runner did some major distance with me... but I decide to let it go after this glorious battle... gonna miss them...

A photo wall...

Finish line, that's not my timing, I was already cleaned up and ready to leave so tot I just snap a few pictures... hehe

That's it... tml reservist for a week... not too sure how the office is going to be like... but well... let see how it goes...

Woohoo!!! OUT

Fantastic Weekend.

Last weekend was really really awesome!!! All three days was well spent, every single minute was really enjoyable. Haven't had so much fun in a long long time. lets start from Friday. Went for Simply Ballroom (thanks to Catherine) It was really good, seeing ballroom dancing at its best, kinda like a ballroom plus an element of broadway into it... it was really enjoyable. After that was a little drink with her at Brewerks (since we had to wait for Brandon anyways) had a little chat before heading home.

Saturday is where the fun starts, woke up early and set out to Changi Point Jetty. Thank to Debby's little wonder pouch with a street directory in it... I managed to find my way there ON TIME!~!~! Lets save on the details, altogether there was 13 of us (about there) and we all set out. A pity that I didn't have my camera coz we really did not take alot of picture for this trip and being a trigger happy person, I felt there is so many beautiful pictures i have missed out... Oh well till next time!!!

The ride was fun, but was tough at some point as the seat for my bike starts to give me a little problem (its custom for girls btw) So yeah, nevertheless we arrived at the resort in one piece. Lodging was simple but great.

Sunday, we decided to take another route which was more fun and definitely shorter. Event the ferry back was faster (took us half the time we took to get there). Had dinner with the gang before riding home. Rode to Changi when the sun is barely up, rode back home when the sun had pretty much set.. NICE... overall I clocked a total of 141.55km. woohoo great start of the year... Debby took a picture evidence of my achievement. Good job everyone...cannot wait for the next one!!!

RIP Slash

As on side celebrates life... another moans over the passing... just received news that Slash, my friend Eugene's dog, just passed on. Thankfully it died of old age, peacefully without any illness whatsoever. But have to part with someone that has been a part of huge portion of your life... This sudden let go is definitely not easy. Stay strong bro, I am sure Slash is in safe hands now... and is definitely watching over you from above.

Honestly I have not met Slash in person, but have heard and seen many wonderful story about him. Rest well friend, you have been a loyal, dedicated friend to everyone around you. Thank you for bringing a smile to everyone around you all these years...

Rough Rough week

Haven't really been blogging for awhile. Its been a pretty rough week but I shall not bring work matter on to this blog (unless I really need an avenue to blast out) for now, in a nutshell, work is just complains....Complains....and COMPLAINS!~!~!~

Anyhow, I shall just be professional, do what is expected of me... and leave as "contract" states. Hahaha... okok lets just briefly go through how my week was like starting last Friday, went for a movie with Jacp, caught Avatar with her, second time I am watching this movie but still as great as ever, and after so long... ITS STILL FULL HOUSE... before that, went for a little shopping, got a couple of good steal from topman, it was like meant to be coz I just go, see, grab, try and go!!! it was that simple... will post pictures if i get the opportunity to wear them =P Anyway, decide to go hunt for a suit, just for the fun of it... coz the blazer i wore on NYE is seriously oversized. and Jacp decide to bring me to one of THE BEST!~!~! make a guess yah... haha here is how i look... (excuse the cam whore lah... its not everyday I get to wear it...=P)

So yeah, this suits cannot get out of my mind since then... HAHAHA, enough on that, now on movie, after Avatar, we decide on "Invictus" its a really nice film, its about how one sport brought the nation together. Was ok for my but obviously to dry for the person behind me coz he is snoring away.

Saturday, went for a little walk walk with Joyce, searching for nothing in particular so window shopped quite abit. Kinda tempted to get a polo but the fitting was a little weird. Kinda regret not getting it coz we didn't see that in any other branch... Not fated i suppose..=P (save $$$ also) haha. The Suit craze carried on and yeah went to another place to try. Verdict, Money = Quality, although these are more affordable, for the price we pay, i must say they are decent suits lah.
here is a picture of it.

So yeah... nice too... and alot alot cheaper!!! haha... Oh well, consider and save up ba... =P and of course I need to workout tone up till my eventual size before buying. HAHAHA

That evening was at Gregor's farewell bbq... nice evening lah... Sunday was fun too... but dun wish to elaborate, just a handful shall know then.

Then its this week... start of the week was rough, nothing improve... but still trying to fine the brighter side. and today finally saw some.. so hopefully the weekend will take a turn for the better then.

Alright that's all for today... keep posted!!! looking forward to this weekend!!!
