Niu year! MOOooOOO

Halo everyone... hope you guys have alot of fun collecting angbaos and all... hehe... anyway didn't take any picture for chinese new year this year. all this picture that you are going to see is all not taken by myself... hahaha partly coz my camera cannot make it anymore after its terrible fall awhile ago... been rather senile lets just put it that way. Anyway, this year CNY wasn't off to a very good start for me, coz my mum was ill on chu yi... so i stayed home to take care of her... the onli visiting i did this year was chu er, to Auntie Angie's and Serene's place. Apart from that, the rest of my new year is spent protecting the nation.. hahaha

here is whatever I have... enjoy...

This was taken on chu xi.... pretty much count down to the year of the ox with these buddies of mine... haha been frens for so many years... its great to have them to usher in the new year with me... hehe... its a post majong shot... hee

As for these ladies, wanted to go chinatown for abit of a festive mood... haha but well let just say our tummy was on strike so just after 1/2 hour there, we were off to NEWTON CIRCUS!~!~ to have the gong gong and the la la (yah to be stupid singers!~!~! hahahah) it was an enjoyable night.. OH YAH IRENE!~!~ I WAN THE PICTURES LEH!~!~! hee...

And finally the only CNY pictures I took, hee must be think why there is only 2 of us, well I AM SHY!~!~! hahaha nah... there is the senior clan (or serene calls them the "fossil clan") and the youngsters clan, of course i mixed around the youngsters lah, its too stressful being around the other clan... so this is taken while we are happily chatting up over dinner... and there was Serene's cousin, whom I met for the first time... so yah... hehe SHY lah... hehe but it was really enjoyable...

Thats about it for my CNY... people make new year resolution, but I make NIU year resolution, which is for everyone to have good health, faster recovery of the economy and of course jobs for everyone... So Ms. Universe right... okok something for myself then... I want to look like Jason Statham from the Transporter... haha know the dream is abit far fetched... but dare to dream and u will succeed... donno hu i heard it from... but whatever lah.. hehe HAPPY NIU YEAR EVERYONE!~!~!~

Happy Birthday!!!

Today is a very special day, (no its not the eve of NYE...=P) ITS DEAR'S BIRTHDAY!!! Happy Birthday dear!~!~! don't how she is till now? here is a picture...

Hee seem like you are having a great day thus far... hopefully we can have a greater evening later!~!~! woo hoo...

Anyway my weekend was pretty alright, very simple yet fulfilling... first will be the long awaited band gathering with the gang... farnie pple, lots of laugh, hell alot of bitching and plenty of fun, unfortunately its after work, so was already dragging myself there already. here is everyone for the evening...

(from L to R): Shawn, Zheng Guo, Serene, Azre, Myself, Nasser, Zul, Jovina, Azmi, Joel, Wei Ming, Tuan Hao (zul like resting on jovina lah... so farnie!!! hahahaha)

thats for fri... sat went to out with dear for a hair cut (which hardly anyone noticed...pfft.. hee) and a little shopping, a little episode took place... kinda spoiled my mood but was resolved... since dear was there... sorry for that little episode dear... heez...

After that met May and Irene at Kenny Rogers (MS) for dinner. Got gift and cards from them, also exchanged my christmas well wishes with them... then walk about into Zara (having sale, who can resist) but nothing was good and they are starting to have alot of "Made in China" goods OMG!~!~! didn't buy anything, probably during futher reduction i might consider (if i have the money even~~~ HAHAHAHA)

Anyway went to On the bund again, first time after its launch.... the place was much quieter... I couldn't quite make out the concept yet... and asian fine diner? a fine diner gone wrong? i really donno, anyhow... we met Carol there for some dessert and drinks.... set outside where the view was pretty alright and will look superb once the IR is up. Nothing much to talk honestly..so here is a pic of how it looked...

My verdict, No good... yes i know it sounds abit to straight forward... but honestly, other then the chocolate cake that can make it (thou is still a little too sweet), the rest is below standard (and i dun consider myself to have high standards when it comes to dessert...) Anyway the verdict was unanimous. Then the service, honestly I admit i have became more aware of service quality after I have done this course, and I can tell you, its not very up to standard, there is "selective service" based of dressing (not to say we are there in sandals and berms lah... but you get what i mean) There is no proper system inplace, I dun see the staff taking down orders (by writting down), and when the bill came, I WAS OVERCHARGE for a drink I haven't had... I was partly to blame coz i didn't check before I foot the bill... =P oh well, the experience wasn't fantastic, but it was not bad neither, but at the rate its going, they better be thinking of something really fast if not i dun see them passing next year, especially when the recession has taken a toll in Spore...

Attendee for on the bund!~!~!~

Flash Back

Been bored... so just looking through some photos and found picture from this year as well as past year which brings back many memories... here are some of them... enjoy

Members from my dragonboat team, they are a fun bunch... haven't been back a long time, miss the people and the BEER!!! omg... haha

Its been 2 years since this brunei trip, but it still never fail to make topic every time its mention, ignore the oversized top please... haha i didn't pack anything "ethnic" for the trip lah.. =P

This is Claire, dear's fren, taken this photo on the first time we met, still remember it was outside cineleisure if i am not mistaken.

My (and dear's) sisters in class... hahah after this picture, we were positive that "Bimbo United" was formed (hor Su!~!~! hee)

This is the memorable Halloween party (for many many reasons hor Joyce =P *winks*) anyway lets just say it was VERY VERY FUN!!! hee still remember I did the new balance run the very next day too hahah

This was a trip with MDIS, the inital registration was bumpy, but the trip was enjoyable... hehe thou not enough shopping lah...Grr... will love to go back again

Finally, my trip to Thailand with dear eary this year (when the whole riot thingy have not started) and just check out the hair lah... spend hours doing it ok... dun play play.. hee just love to play with hairstyles... hee at least when i still have hair lah... =P

Oh well thats all for now... have a great weekend peepz!!!

Seasons Greeting!!!

Merry Christmas, Happy Boxing day!!! and also Happy Birthday Sherine!!! heez.. in case anyone donno who she is.... here is a picture... hee

Pretty sian having to work on a friday after a holiday but what to do... its internship mah... hahaha, anyway Christmas was nothing special this year, It hasn't been special to begin with, coz I don't really celebrate christmas. But this year was fun as I get to spent it with Dear, simple and cost effective affair... haha

Eve I watch Ip Man with dear at AMK hub, after having dinner with May at Yishun, was kind of a last min thing, as dear had family gathering so just grab a bite before meeting her. Anyway had Xing Wang and they had this new noodles in Papaya soup... yes... something like the soup for fried fish soup kinda thing.... took the risk of boob enhancement (Tip for girls: papaya milk is say to enhance ur chest line) and tried it anyway. Verdict: its not bad, initally didn't like the idea of fruits in my main dish, but after I tried it, its actually not too bad, yes the sweetness of the papaya does make the taste interesting, but it does not leave behind it trace of papaya-ish taste in other parts of the noodles. so overall its good and recommendable to others to try....

Shortly after dinner, left to meet dear at amk. Poor girl waited for long... sorry dear... after that we decided to just sit around and wait for our movie. Had hot chocolate and she did lemon tea, one too sweet, the other taste like water!!! hahaa wonder if the mistaken and put the sugar syrup into mine... Anyway, the drink managed to last us before the show of IP man. Verdict on the show: VERY NICE LAH!!! hee... probably because I like wu shu films, and fighting shows for that matter, its rather wong fei hong-ish, but less the typical country pumpkim feel lah... worth watching and dun mind catching it again. And thats my Eve.

Christmas day, really more of a PH then a day to celebrate, just stayed in bed a little later then usual, and gave my alarm clock a break. In summary, I just left home to get groceries for dinner, which was fantastic, made and eaten by US (me and dear..) hahahaha

That its lah... Have a great holiday all and looking forward to 2009!!!

Snowing in Singapore?

Finally as we approach the end of the year, the wet season begins (which is likely to end by CNY) however, there is something different with the rain, different from the past years... The rain is not like the regular monsoon rain, those super heavy sort where you just have to be out for 10 sec and you will be soaking wet. Rather, its more like snow.... I know its strange coming from someone that have not seen, what more experience snow, but the feeling is really quite different. The rain drop kinda dissolves before it touches you... and it is very light, even lighter then our regular drizzle. Its like those mist spray kinda feeling. Not sure if you understand what I am trying to say.. but I guess you have to experience to understand for yourself... having snow in singapore don't seem that impossible no more...

How to Prevent a Sore Throat from Progressing to a Cold (courtesy of May)

By Dr. Ben Kim on March 09, 2008
Natural Health Solutions

Before I share a great little tip on how to stop a sore throat from progressing into a week-long cold, please know that periodically experiencing a cold or the flu can actually be helpful to your health. If you have no idea why this is, please view the following popular article that I wrote on this topic:What Most Doctors Won't Tell You About Colds and FlusYou just won't get this information on why colds and flus can help you stay healthy over the long run from medical textbooks and mainstream media - please consider sharing it with family and friends.Although experiencing a cold or the flu once in a while can help rid your body of your weakest cells, I'm willing to bet that there are times when you would really prefer to delay such a period of cleansing and malaise.

Here's how you can stand a good chance of preventing a cold from developing:As soon as you experience that sore, tickly feeling in your throat that precedes a full-blown cold, gargle with warm salt water. And when I say gargle, I mean really gargle; take in a mouthful of warm salt water, look up at the ceiling, and gargle aggressively. You may want to tap at your throat (the Adam's apple region) with your fingers while you gargle to encourage the warm salt water to trickle deeply into your throat.Gargle like this several times with a glass of warm salt water, and repeat as often as possible throughout the day.Warm salt water can remove viruses from the tonsils and adenoids that line the back of your throat region.

Viruses that cause colds and flus typically get caught by your tonsils and adenoids before they spread through your body. Your tonsils and adenoids are important parts of your immune system because they are located near the entrance of your breathing passages, and they serve as a first line of defense against undesirable airborne microorganisms and substances. This, by the way, is why it is best not to remove tonsils and adenoids from your throat region. Chronic swelling of tonsils and adenoids is best addressed by reducing sugar intake, adopting a minimally processed diet that is rich in fresh plant foods, and supporting immune system health by getting plenty of rest, exercise, and exposure to sunlight and fresh air.

Cold salt water may also help to remove viruses from your tonsils and adenoids, but warm salt water tends to be more effective. Warm water may help to melt the fatty coating that protects viruses that cause the cold and flu. What if you gargle for all you're worth but still end up developing a full-blown cold?Get lots of rest, drink plenty of fluids, and take comfort in knowing that countless viruses are at work destroying your weakest cells. And don't forget to blow your nose as often as it runs; help your body get rid of what it wants to get rid of.

Love Lost.......Love Found....

I guess many had been following the news on the tragic lost of a Singaporean, Ms Lo, to terror. Such a sad and tragic thing to have happened. My deepest condolences to her family, and particularly her hubby. Watching the new this morning brought a swell of emotions to me, hearing her hubby tell the media Ms. Lo's final words, trying very hard to hold back his tears. His facial expression is filled with missed, sorrow, grief. As he narrated the scene of him having to go to the hotel room where his beloved lies all so peacefully. I cannot even imagine the amount of grief he had with him... "I was able to touch her, and she is still very beautiful". The final words that she left him was "If I am not to make it out here, I just want to let you know that I love you". SAD....

After this tragic news, came a good news. One of my friend in Melbourne, Teo Hui, just got engaged!, Congrats bro, may you guys have a blissful life ahead. This guy have been a great pal of mine since poly days, so much so that people thought he was "partner" of mine... ahhahah all those times brings back wonderful memories but well, he has been a great help in showing me ways to shed those pounds and a source of inspiration, a goal to work towards. So happy for him that he has found his life partner.

As one lost his "life" the other is ready to embark on his new "life", and life goes on...

Turned 24...

Yesterday was the day I was born... 24 years ago... Its was a simple affair, a simple dinner with my dearest, Serene, and everything was already memorable... hehe...For many years, I feel that my birthday was a forgotten affair. I guess it was because its always during the school holidays (back then when I was in school) and technology was not as advance, as birthday wishes cannot be sent via sms or emails at that time. So I tend to feel really lonely during this day, so much so it was like another ordinary day. But that was back then....

Yesterday, I recieved so many birthday wishes... some were even made in advance... Am so touched by everything. I guess people do remember, and and thank each and everyone who did, you guys really made me feel special. Thank you...

Seeing how I grew over the years... maturing thinking (at least I think they are maturing.... I hope.. haha) physical transformation... I have to say life has been pretty kind to me thus far... Call me simple minded or lack ambition, but honestly, sometime when I look at those that are very ambitions, you hear them complain about life more often then they eat in a day. People seem to all taken the concept of "working smart" over "working hard". Working smart does not mean u dun have to work hard... many do not understand this point. I see many whinning everyday (I do contribute my fair share too) when there is too much work, they complain they cannot breath, when there is no work, they complain its a waste of their talent.... I dun understand. I love to sit down an reflect at times, working hard and smart must come hand in hand i guess... and everything need to strike a balance for things to work.

Anyway... shall not bore you all with my "one year older, one year wiser" bullsh*t hahaha... yesterday was simple but enjoyable affair. A simple dinner after a rough day puts a sweet end to my day... hehez.... maybe rough is to harsh a word... hmm.. long day then... hehez...

Alright will be posted lah...

Internship...

Today marks the end of my 2nd week internship for my course. I realise how long I have not been blogging, that is because things has been so rush for my past sem, I don't even have time to come online, what more visit and update my blog. But here I am, after 2 weeks of mad rush... finally some time alone, to update how things are going.

My last sem ended in a rush... honestly, got to be the most tedious sem I had thus far. Wonder if the modules are dry or just because my first sem doing all modules. (Kudos to those that have survive 4 modules all these while man!!!) After that sem, it was a quick 5 days break before commencing my internship. Honestly, everything has zipped past so fast that I hardly have time to think back on what has already happened.

Anyway, for those that donno, I am working for an event firm called MicroVic as an event coordinator. Some might wonder why I am doing this when I am suppose to be gaining experience from hotels instead. My thinking was hotels deals with events too... so its ok to learn from the events end about hotels too... yes i don't get much exposure on hotel operation, but I sure learn plenty about banquet during my events... so not so bad lah.

I have learn alot from just 2 weeks and am looking forward to the rest of my internship, as I pretty much have an idea on things that will be going for months to come. Working on holiday eve is inevitable (New Years Eve) but am suprise there is nothing for Christmas just yet. One things I still need getting used to is the working hour... till 7 and its so off town that when I leave office, it would be 8 already. But waking up early, I feel really good, just bring me back to my army daze i guess.

Apart from that, I will try to blog as often as I can... meanwhile, take good care everyone, and HAPPY HOLIDAYS in advance!!!

News news... and decision

Share some recent news, good as well as bad.... Lets start with the Bad then.... Economy, guess everyone have been concern over it... as the financial tsunami from America finally hit our shores... The impact is really great, the damages cause, the loss in monetary value and all... and unemployment rate likely to go up... OMG.... Not that it affects me much, but still.. can feel the pressure lor... much more now then when I am a kid.... hahaha like duh, then I dun have to earn my own living in that sense.... Today's news paper, IR no likely to open as plans, as works have been delayed for few months. In that case why did we strink our course, I wonder.... My course was initally scheduled for 3 years, and we had to compress everything to 2 years, having struggle 4 modules a sem each sem lasting about 4 months. ITS ALL A RUSH MAN!!!! and now this.... plus the recent internship drama, most hotel rejecting coz the 3.5 months is too short a time, so why not increase it back to 6 mths!!! haiz... I know many things is out of my control and honestly I like typical human, when things goes smooth keep quiet, but when it goes wrong, will be eager to voice out... but what else can we do?

Anyway thats the Bad news, for the good news, nothing much to do with my studies, just more to the removal of the 30cents fuel charge. Its just takes one company to do so before the others follow suit... hahah seeing how the biggest taxi company kana shoot in today's paper, commoners being interview were disappointed that the company that proposed to take away the fuel charge is from a smaller company, when the one anxious to implement it then was the biggest company... hahaha ironic isn't it? hehez.. but nevertheless, at least its 30 cents lighter for out pocket... dun tink it does make a difference... it does man!!!

Fairprice continue to give discount on its items... so help the public, I guess its an appropriate time they did it as it not only help us as consumer, but also used this chance to gain back some market shares from intensive competition as supermart starts springing up everywhere!!!

Back to the IR delay thingy.... now that it is likely there will be delay in the launch in the Marina Bay one and soft launch going on the Sentosa one in 2010, I am considering if I should take my education one step further.... I am talking about doing Honors program... The course that I am currently doing does not come with an honors program, as in not compulsory. But beginning this sem I recieved a letter from the school (SCU that is) to do their honors program (heng heng only lah =P). Suprise yet elated... but after much consideration, still make me very lost as to whether or not to take it up.

First, finance, if I take it, I have yet to find out how much its going to cost me. the current course have already build up such a 'debt' for me already. The offered scholarship only cater to their local students... which means no point for me to apply...

Second, Time, a full time honors will take me a year (commencing 2009) and part time will be 2 years. Likely going for the former lah... but if it includes part of my attachment and final sem, which can be pretty tough altogether...

I have a month to consider... i really donno, its very pressing, yet... i think i should do so... what should i do....

Back to square one...

For many that has been wondering what really happened after my 16th week of training. Disappointingly, I was not able to keep up my momentum, and yes... I have slacked back in shape... My best shape will be in week 9 which look something like this

Since then, I kept things up but gradually slacked off in terms of committment. I know it is an excuse, but things slipped since I started school again (started the regime during holidays), the amount of commitment to working out shorten as my emphasis went to my studies... I am returning to my old ways, rather then just grabbing my shoes for a run when i feel like, I would consider, then look at the gloomy sky and think twice. This usually ends up in not running, after convincing myself that it will rain, and pfft, normally it does not....

Many of my frens say i have "bulked up" something I dun mind, but I know its because I am growing sideways. Understanding that I already face dieting issues during my 16 weeks training, I was still able to compensate as the regime i gone through was able to compensate for my lousy diet control. But as things turn bad with my regime, the balance start to tip and so did my weight. I would I happy with no gaining any weight, but am not happy coz I have not lost any too. (considering I was close to 72 kg at one point of time and now i am 76kg). I try convincing myself I have gain muscles, but honestly, who am I kidding... HAHAHA

Its is true that to attain a balance and get the tone body one wants... is a combination of DIET + HARD WORK. This is the old school and health way to do things lah... I mean there is of course the "manufactured" methods... which comes with a cost lah... I am a classic example of this formula coz I can never get myself into the perfect triangle lor. The formula to good health and a nice body is a balance of DIET, CARDIO, and WEIGHTS Training. Sounds simple, very hard to achieve...

For everyone's information, my tummy is back... bigger then ever... so yah... doubt will be posting any pic here for now, won't want to scare the daylight out of anyone... hahaha

Will continue to battle... I believe I will attain it one day.... JIA YOU BA!!!!

Internship Saga...

As anyone have not already guess, yes, my school has put alot of student in a spot, tight spot to be precised. And before I blabber on this, let me give you a rough picture...

We are suppose to go for internship after this semester. Everything is not really in place yet. We do a degree in Hotel and Resort, and so far out of the list of potential employers, only one of which is a hotel. The rest ranged from Jurong Birdpark, to fine dinning restaurant doing waitressing, to Underwater world. Honestly, if you are me how are these related to our course... I donno. The best of the crop have Singapore Island county club (compared to the rest of course) I mean this are all based on my own opinion and honestly.. even after today's trashing session, I am not very happy still.

I see where the school is coming from, taken for the fact that our internship period is so short, and also since our course should exposed us to anywhere within the service industry, which pretty much determined their choice of employers. Like our director said, its about learning experience, he went on to talk about all the possibilities that we can learn. Honestly at that point of time I am just too tired and kinda pissed ba.. will talk about it later. Back, our director was telling us all the possibility that we can learn as a waiter. I see his point, honestly I do, being a fine dinning restaurant and all, the clients you face are no ordinary dinner and service quality is definitely something to master, benefit yes. But seeing the period we are there, how willing are these places to teach us? that is another problem. Its not that we are lazy and just want a title but not do work, all they want is to gain as much from the employer as much as what the employer hopes to gain from us I guess. hope its not confusing...

Anyway, there was this guy name CK, I really think he was crap talking, coz he suddenly tried to make his presence felt by "adding his view" into the situation, which I totally dun get what he is driving at except that we are spoilt brats that should learn more of the english (or aussie) style of working. He mention that we are very disciplined since young, and has been spoonfed every step of the way, then I guess he got lost in what he had said and started to say something about its the experience of learning. I was like WTF... To me, what I am getting from his little speech was "we are already spoon feeding you spoilt brats in the best of our abilities, if you are not happy also bo bian" that kinda thing... I felt it would be better that he didn't talk at all... remain hidden in the shadows at least we won't see how dumb he is... hahaha honestly talking without thinking...

Enough on that character, If you ask me, I see todays session pretty redundent, thou I get to see the challenge the new management has to face, the "old MDIS culture" from the rest of the staff, and so called debate and trashing session turning into a useless lecture. Everyone was pretty much quiet, but only a few brave soul try to voice out, but before we can finish what we have to say, we get interrupted and the vicious "lecture" cycle will result. The bottom line I got from today's session is that we should just take the internship, finish it, and F off... hahaha

On the other side, I will have to say that the students are depending too much on the school, not that they are wrong doing so coz it was originally within their job scope. However, will remain in a leaking boat that jump into the sea and swim for safety? This is what I didn't understand from them I guess. Taking the schools' word for it, that they are trying their best and all continue to help them secure better positions. Please lah, can you really be that naive to think that once they find you one position, they will still bother to source for another for u? I donno lah honestly, I just feel that both party have a role to play and this saga rage out due to poor communications and plain assumption and jumping into conclusions...

Apart from this saga, I, being the only evening class student there, voiced out the concerns and unhappiness about the administration, thou they say they will handle it and seemingly pushing the blame to Vaani, I honestly will not dare take their word for it again. We shall see as it goes... Right now, I dare say that there are 3 groups within MDIS Tourism Mgt side; the strong newbie, the sly oldies, and the kana shoot party... Its going to be a tough war.... and am sad to be a victim of it.. but what to do... i hate to say it... but I chose the school... will reconsider my options again thou....

Thats it for now...

But what many full time student are stating that they would prefer something in the hotel, with more relevance to the course. I mean they are not wrong to say that too... for the fact that, hey thats what we are promised in the first place.
